After the pencil was down

A wide morning and a smaller unit
Min Jae-hwan · Seogwipo · Range Desk, spring 2026
I have watched Kospi futures for five years and I had a private rule I never wrote down: if the morning was quiet, I added. Seo made me put the prior day’s high and low on the sheet before the open was even discussed. On evening four my example stop came out at 18 points. The sizing line gave me a smaller unit than I wanted. I said so. He asked me to change the risk amount in ink if I wanted the larger unit. I did not change it.
The next week, on my own account, a wide first hour would have taken the larger unit off the table. The smaller one was still there when a second test failed and price came back inside. The studio did not point at that trade. The sheet did, because I had finally written the distance before the quantity. I still dislike how small the number looks. I dislike a wiped morning more.
Evening three was too quick for me
Han Yuri · Jeju-si · Range Desk, winter 2025
I want this on the page because the brochure tone would skip it. Evening three moved faster than I could mark. Seo had already turned the page to expansion while I was still measuring the prior day. I went home irritated and rewrote the sheet at the kitchen table. I came back with three questions. He sat with me for twenty minutes before evening four, which he did not advertise as part of the evening, and which I needed.
I would have liked that pace from the start, especially on the volatility ruler. The sizing line, once it settled, is the part I still fill in before I look at prices at lunch. If you are slow with a pencil, say so on night one. I waited until night three.
USD/KRW and one rude bar
Choi Areum · Jeju-si · open evening, then a chart sitting
I work an early hotel shift, so the 18:30 start is the only class I can keep. My market spends long stretches in a tight range and then prints one rude bar. The volatility page from the open evening is the sheet I actually reuse. I wanted more time on currency examples and less on the index print they had pinned that night. Nam gave me that hour on a Friday. She would not discuss a second pair. That was annoying for ten minutes and then it was the point.
No brokerage screen in the room
Park Seonwoo · former treasury clerk · Range Desk and one follow-up
I spent four years near other people’s positions and I did not want a class that asked me to log in. Nobody did. I brought printed Kosdaq sessions. On the follow-up sitting Nam circled a stop I had placed inside the range I claimed to respect. The loss figure on the sizing line and the story I was telling were different numbers. I kept the circle. I redrew the stop. The rest of my habits are my own problem, which she was content to leave with me.
Thursdays only
Oh Taemin · produce desk, Jeju · open evenings through 2026
I can come on Thursdays. That is the whole constraint, and the studio did not pretend an evening desk could move for me. I sit the open evenings that fall on my night, and twice I have booked a Friday chart sitting by leaving the warehouse early. I write the day’s range on a card before I check prices at lunch. The room is dark, which helps me look at one sheet. The tea is strong. I still circle first pokes more than I should; the second-test note on this site is about me.
